Almost 25 years after the series debuted, Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie finally brings Jennifer Saunders’ Edina Monsoon and Joanna Lumley’s Patsy Stone to cinemas. Nowhere near the quality of the best episodes in the series, this is a patchy, inconsistent outing that follows the pair on the run after accidentally killing Kate Moss. It can’t help but feel past its expiry date in stages, but occasional bursts of brilliance, particularly in a solid first act, offer clear reminders of the show’s genius. It’s also just a treat seeing one of television’s greatest ever comic creations on the big screen – the immortal Patsy. Stacked with cameos, this is a decent return of a classic.
