A hit and miss animated comedy, Sausage Party is the story of a sausage called Frank who leads a food uprising after discovering the horrifying truth about what happens to him and his fellow consumable friends once they leave the supermarket. A kids movie aimed at adults, this is a solid plot drowning in bad language and sexual innuendos. Brilliant ideas slip through here and there, particularly in the second half’s religious dissection, but for the most part they’re pushed aside in favour of raunchy wordplay and food orgies. With the phenomenal cast behind it – Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader and Edward Norton to name a few – this could have been so much better.
