The evolution of James Wan continues with this sequel to the surprise 2013 hit that sees paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren this time trekking to England for another bout of hauntings and poltergeists. The Conjuring 2 lacks the surprise and shock of the original, but hangs proudly on the skill of its ever improving director. Wan’s technical abilities have evolved with every release, peaking with this stylish scarefest. Not as good as its predecessor, but expertly made and occasionally terrifying. And in The Nun Wan has another spin-off inducing creation – a terror to rival the first movie’s nightmarish doll Annabelle.
