The story of a woman forced to find help from an ex-lover in an effort to protect the man she left him for, Jane Got A Gun is a decent western that unfortunately stumbles under the weight of its own troubled production. This is solid filmmaking from Warrior director Gavin O’Connor with a tired result – its stalled momentum revealing itself in scenes that promise much but ultimately don’t deliver. It’s hard to be annoyed considering its revolving door of lead actors and directors and constant distribution setbacks, but with Natalie Portman clearly giving her all this feels like an outstanding outline of a movie never fully fleshed out.
