An attempt to reboot a 17 year old classic, Blair Witch is a continuation that thankfully ignores the second movie altogether, opting for an updated take on the first film’s barebones plot –a group of college students set out to discover the truth behind the disappearance of the original’s ill-fated Heather Donahue. While still containing a few genuinely terrifying set pieces, this inevitably lacks the surprise and uncomfortable realism of The Blair Witch Project. Nowhere near the awesome entertainment of director Adam Wingard’s previous films You’re Next or The Guest, this is still a good effort at reigniting a lost franchise.
